The story

Gilt is built by a husband-and-wife team based in Armenia — Harut Aristakesyan writes the code, and the app runs the family's own budget every day. That's not a detail: Gilt exists because they wanted a finance tracker with two properties that rarely coexist, real depth (budgets, net worth, multi-currency, family sharing) and real privacy, and couldn't find one. It's also why sharing a household ledger between two phones is at the centre of the app rather than a checkbox on a feature list — it's the way the people who make it use it.

Instead of connecting to banks through aggregators or bundling yet another paid chatbot, Gilt made a bet: your iPhone and your iCloud are enough to run your finances, and the AI you already pay for is enough to automate them.
